Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) Loan
Program Water Main and Lead Service Line Replacement
Program – Tree Removal & Replacement Revision
The City of Ecorse has been allocated funding from the Michigan Department of Environment, Great
Lakes, and Energy through their Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) program for water main
and lead service line replacements. The project scope includes approximately 12,275 feet of critical
water main along the following streets:
• 3rd Street from Cicotte to Southfield
• 4th Street from Southfield to Suburban
• Monroe Avenue from Labadie to White
• High Street from Mill to Le Blanc
• 8th Street from Southfield to Cicotte
• Salliotte from Jefferson to End of Line
• Drennan Street from Josephine to Salliotte
The original intent did not anticipate any significant tree removal for this project, but after further
consideration of construction limitations, the water main is expected to be installed mostly outside of
the road and will now require tree removals along the proposed alignment. The City of Ecorse does not
intend to re-plant trees over the new utility but will work with each affected property owner to offer
re-planting a tree of similar species on the property.
The final alignment is expected to be completed in May 2025. City DPW staff will be reaching out to
each property owner in Summer 2025 ahead of the expected construction start of fall/winter 2025-
2026.
