Ecorse Public Library
Hello!
Great things are happening at the library and here are a few items to share!
EPL now houses a Library of Things. We circulate mobile hot spots, a party tent, lawn games, craft supplies, board games, tools, and more. This is an article from Metro Parent that details more information about other nearby libraries that also have a Library of Things: Explore the Library of Things at Metro Detroit Libraries - Metro Parent
The State of Michigan still has their unclaimed property website, take a look and see if the state is holding money for you or loved ones: https://unclaimedproperty.michigan.gov/
Also, I have attached the QR code for the library subscription to The Detroit News, this link can be used by city staff and Ecorse residents to access The Detroit News free of charge for one year. Again, this link is only for use by city staff and residents.
The library has started a Library of Seeds. If you are getting ready to start your garden, head over and check out some seeds to start! We are also giving away pole bean and cherry tomato plants this week that staff started from seed.
And, as always, we have over 18,000 books, dvds, and audiobooks to lend. Printing costs only 10c per page for black and white, faxing and scanning are free of charge!

to Receive Benefits in May
|
|
Summer Grocery Benefits
- Eligible families of school-age children will receive $120 per child for qualifying groceries.
- Qualifying groceries include fruits and vegetables, meat, poultry, fish, dairy products, breads, cereals, and non-alcoholic drinks.
- SUN Bucks can be spent at many locations in-store or online.
- Families can receive SUN Bucks on top of other nutrition benefits like Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and Women, Infants, and Children (WIC).
- Funds will expire 122 days after issuance – so we encourage families to use them sooner rather than later.
Eligibility
Families will be automatically enrolled in SUN Bucks if they are already enrolled in SNAP, TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families), or FDPIR (Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations) benefits or meet the requirements for free or reduced-price school meals. In other words, keep an eye out for $120, per child, at the beginning of summer!
Families that are not automatically enrolled should apply for SUN Bucks directly.
Additional Resources Available
Keep in mind there are additional resources available to your family, like the Food Assistance Program (FAP) at MI Bridges, WIC benefits, and Child Development & Care (CDC) benefits.
