Attorney

City Attorney Karen L. Folks Albert B. Buday Civic Center 3869 W. Jefferson Avenue Ecorse, MI 48229 (313) 294-3728 Hours: Monday – Friday 8:30 am – 4:30 pm

Welcome to the City Attorney’s Office. Our primary responsibility is to serve as the legal authority for the City of Ecorse as a municipal entity. In this role, we provide legal assistance to the various City departments and the City Council in matters pertaining to local, state, and federal laws.

The City Attorney, Karen L. Folks, is appointed by the Emergency Manager, and is the legal Counsel for the City. Ms. Folks is responsible for instituting or defending all litigation in which the City is a party. She attends all Council meetings and serves as advisor to other departments when requested.

Attorney Folks conducts legal research; responds to citizen inquiries and complaints; implements ordinances; reviews contracts; and attends various Boards and Commissions meetings.
